We Have A Little Catching Up To Do…

September 29, 2008

It has been over a month since I’ve posted so I thought I had better do a little Steenbock Recap. Here goes…

Shane and I celebrated 5 years (yes, 5!) of wedded bliss on September 6. We went to Monti’s, where he took me on our first date. This time around, however, I splurged and ordered the prime rib rather than the pork chops. We spent the evening reminiscing about our first date and our reactions to each other. I knew that he was the one. So much so in fact that I called home from the restroom and told my stepmom that I was going to marry Shane. On the other hand, Shane told his friend back home that he thought it went well but he wasn’t completely sure since I was so quiet. Silly guy… We then fastforwarded a bit (not so much, only 10 months) to our wedding weekend at LakeTahoe. After our clifftop ceremony overlooking Emerald Bay we had a quiet brunch at Caesars. I remember much silence and looking at my wedding ring trying to figure out why I felt the same as the day before. Aren’t you supposed to feel married and like a wife after you tie the knot? Our wedding dinner wasn’t much different…We ate late in the lounge at Applebee’s (quite fancy I know) and you know who watched football (pretty sure the Sooners were playing) on TV. I do remember thinking that I still didn’t feel any different…Even today I still catch myself thinking “Wow…I’m someone’s wife!” …I suppose it’s a good thing that the wonder is still there.

Beau is all boy and then some. I have started calling him Mr. Destructo because he does a great job at destroying things. Here is the list of items that were mistakenly in his path and are no more:
1. Shane’s glasses – snapped in half
2. Shane’s work phone – found submerged in the toilet (and had been in there for some time) *Has since put Shane’s shirt in the toilet
3. A bowl at Chili’s – a clean break
4. Torchiere Light – lots of glass on carpet
5. Lid to my Texas skillet – lots of glass on tile
He has walking down pat now and is on to running. He loves to climb into and on to everything (and I mean everything). His new word is “Yay!” which he exclaims in response to just about everything. He can point out lights, but not his nose. His favorite food this month is avocado and will inhale an entire one for dinner. Being upside down is quite possibly his favorite position. The garage holds much fascination for him. Loveable is his middle name.

Shane bought me a new camera as an early birthday present. My new obsession is taking pictures…
