This is what runs through my mind on Sunday…

February 8, 2010

So hello February…you came in kind of fast.

The Football Gods are smiling down on us…Beau is sleeping and we’re watching the Super Bowl in peace. Watching anything in peace  is a rarity in our house.

Anyone else like the taste of fish oil capsules?  Anyone? Anyone at all?

I’m adding “streamline” to my 2010 goals.

My hands are so dry and cracked they hurt.  A lot.  Does anyone have any brand of lotion or home remedies they love for this kind of dryness?  Thanks.

Ravel’s Bolero is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.  Ever.

Note to self:  Life is all about balance.

I never thought that I’d be staying up until 2 am on a Saturday night after a party, cleaning out and reorganizing my pantry.

70-hour work weeks are the pits.

I broke down and finally jumped on the BlackBerry bandwagon. It comes Wednesday.  And it’s smoky violet.  I’m excited.

Here is something more exciting than a BlackBerry…my hair is long enough for a ponytail (with the aid of a few bobby pins.)

We’re leaving Beau with a non-family sitter for the first time this weekend.  And while I’m not really nervous about it, I’m a little unsure.  But it has to be done sometime.

Where did this weekend go?

I’m glad I’m not a teenager right now.  Of course I’m sure my parents said the same thing when I was a teenager.

I’m feeling a bit antsy right now and wish I lived in a city. I really wish I lived in The City.

I’m still 99.99% sure I could not be a stay-at-home mom.

To my friends and family on the snowed in East Coast…Wishing you better weather and clear roads.

Wherever you are and whatever the weather, I always wish you blue skies and green lights.

Enjoy your week everyone!

I'm in love with "Cetaphil" moisturizing cream. It's super thick, so you really just wanna put it on at night. It works wonders though!

Kirkland fish oil capsules are enteric coated. They taste kind of yummy actually. Is that weird? No fishy burps either.

And Aquaphor is great for hands (and diaper rash). A real multi-tasker.

Love the new blog look. Probably not very new but I usually look at you on Google Reader.

cetaphil and aquaphor are packed with petroleum. poison!!

They were the culprit of Jake's cracked skin as a baby, and they were what the dermatologist recommended we use. if you have the slightest sensitivity to petrol products, they can make it worse.

Boy did I learn that the hard way.

Also, make sure whatever you are using is fragrance free, that is a huge irritant.

This is so gross, but try slathering crisco all over your hands and have S wrap them in saran wrap.
My mom's hands crack to the point that she should get stitches, and this is the only thing that works. her mother did the same thing, but with lard! Eew!

I haven't sat and listened to Bolero in a long time…Im an going to have to do that! Oh and the crisco thing works and bath and body works makes a set of gloves that you can wear to bed that help to reduce dryness.

For cracks on your hands & fingers, Vic swears by Chapstick – I've told my Mom, Aunt & a bff and they all now swear by it as well. Mom also swears by Cortisone 10 moisturizing cream for cracks too (she said it also take away the pain). Hope it helps!

I don't have any hints for creams, but make sure your vitamin D levels are high enough. Deficiency causes all kinds of things including dry cracked skin, and I think 50% of Americans are deficient. But since you ENJOY (???) the taste of fish oil capsules, I"m guessing you might not be deficient.

Bag Balm is my go to stuff for my cracked fingers. They crack so bad they bleed. So do my heels…

fish oil? I give my cat fish oil for her skin and coat. She likes it too. It must be good if her royal highness eats it…. lol

I'm jealous of your SmartPhone. I want one. And violet too?? man oh man…

    I miss the City too.

Yay…Blackberry's are fun šŸ™‚ I think you're gonna love it.

I'm sure Beau will do great with the new sitter…so try not to worry too much!

Bath and Body Works soaps helped my hands so much! They help the dryness down so I didn't need so much lotion. And the last two winters I've only had one spot that continues to crack.

When my hands are really chapped, I use Burt's Bees lip conditioner on the cracked spots.
