It feels weird to be doing this on Sunday.
Happy New Year! Glad to see you 2010.
My head is a jumble of thoughts and promises and plans and resolutions and goals and on and on. I’m hoping to make sense of them soon and get them in order to actually do something with them.
I can’t remember where my safe places are, so you’d think I’d stop putting things in them. But I don’t.
We went a-zooing this weekend. You like that? My new verb, a-zooing. Now we’re members so I’m sure we’ll be going a-zooing often this year.
Some people make me want to gag. Laugh and gag and roll my eyes. Plain and simple.
I’m working on giving my blog a facelift for the new year. Bright. Happy. Different.
I’ve been reading a number of year in review posts and articles. Hmmm…2009: Transforming. Challenging. Done. I think that pretty much sums it up.
Shane and I watched a Jobsite episode tracking a FedEx package from Shanghai to New York. The logistics and planning and scheduling and routing and racing and re-routing blew my mind. I’m still thinking about it.
One day I’ll be able to keep up with all my plans.
My new vegetable obsession: sweet potatoes roasted with olive oil, cinnamon & sugar, and cayenne pepper.
I know we’ve barely entered 2010, but I’m already thinking about how I want to enter 2011.
This photo of Beau reminds me so much of photos of my great-grandfather when he was a small boy (except he had very long ringlets since his parents did not attempt the clippers on him.)The idea of genetics and DNA combinations and looking like long ago relatives amazes me.
I think I’ve used up all my words for today. Good night.

I'm looking at a picture of your great-grandfather as a little boy, and he had short bangs just like Beau, and the same serious mouth and chubby cheeks. It is rather remarkable!

Is it bad that I'm not really thinking about goals for 2010? I feel like I should be. I set a few small ones…but I'm not feeling very ambitious. I think because I set goals I never meet.

"A-zooing"…I like it. Verb-ing is fun.

Great picture of Beau and genetics has always been an interest of mine. How my brother got my grandma's brown eyes when my mom, dad, sister and I all have green… stuff like that… I love it.
My SIL just told me about her sweet potato FRY obsession that sounded a lot like what you wrote here….

There is no better way to live 2010 than thinking about how you want to enter 2011. In education we call it backward planning, but I think in life it's called forward thinking. xo

My mom and dad just gave my middle kid his great-great grandfather's pocket watch framed with a picture of the old guy. When I saw that picture it was like looking at my son in a picture taken at one of those places that does old-timey pictures. I knew immediately why they decided my son should have that watch!

Beau looks so thoughtful and adorable. Genetics are so amazing and interesting when you see it in cousins too. What amazes me is the thought that a different egg and sperm combination is a whole different kid. It all amazes me.
I wish I could get the thoughts and resolutions and goals to come together in my mind so I feel focused.
