Lizzi, absolutely GORGEOUS blog!!! Are you a graphic designer? I have major blog envy right now!!! Does it take you a long time to change the color and font of some of your words? Seems like such a pain in the neck in blogger to do that kind of thing. I can’t wait until I have more time to read through your blog…first impressions are amazing!!!
Thanks Marie! You put a big smile on my face!! 🙂 Sometimes I wish I had more writing on my blog, but I’m just more of a visual person. There are times when I think playing around with the layout of blog and posts takes more time than actually blogging! Of course, I tend to be a perfectionist which is time consuming!!
Jo- I really don’t know much about the Eagle Globe and Anchors, but they are old. They were my Grandma’s who was in the WAVES during WWII. They are actually a pair of “clip on” style earrings but with the threaded screw-like backs instead of clips. Does that make sense?
I was going to ask about those Marine Corps anchors, too. My dad was a WWII Marine and he had a pin like that on his jacket. So wow, your grandma was a real WOMAN. I’m tres impressed. We are a huge Marine Corps fan family here — my dh is also a Marine. (Notice I did NOT say former Marine, as I’m informed that “once a Marine, always a Marine.”)
Teri, you got that right! “Once A Marine, Always A Marine.”
(As if being around one long enough doesn’t get the point across, there’s always one of their motto’s to remind us, lol!)
Therefore: “There are no former Marines!” (And you can only refer to one as a “Retired Marine” if he actually did retire from the Corps – to me that’s common sense, but it was passed on anyway!)
Lizzi, that’s AMAZING about your Grandma! I second Teri’s thoughts! (And your description did make sense). Wow. To know such things about your family, to have pieces of them, to have such strong roots is wonderful.
Thanks Jo and Teri… My grandma is an amazing woman (and lucky me I was named after her!) I come from a long line of family-memorabilia-collecting-Yankees which means we don’t get rid of anything (hence my clutter issue.) I have a pretty cool family.

How amazing that you have this!
Are the Eagle Globe and Anchors old? My Hubby is a Marine which is why I know what they are (they are the US Marine Corps emblem).
