Start Your Engines…

February 23, 2009

Today Shane and I went to the NHRA Nationals here in Phoenix. Quite an experience… There is nothing like standing at a vendor booth, looking at tires, when all of a sudden you realize your soda is sloshing from the noise of Top Fuel cars racing. Not often do you get to feel noise move through your body and your soda! And let me tell you, the people watching…out of this world! You’ve got your young families, you’re hard core race groupies, rowdy guys and gals, and those geeky people like me who are trying to figure out the physics of finishing under 3.9 seconds. We didn’t stick around long enough (nor did we leave with a Harley Shane was in a drawing for) to see John or Ashley Force race, but we did get to see John Force zoom through the Midway on a little motorcycle going beep beep. We had a fun time and I bet Beau would have loved seeing all the racecars…if it wouldn’t have hurt his poor little ears.

A great big Thank You to Mirandi and Todd for watching Beau and to Grandma Jude for giving him a much needed haircut!!

He had to go down and get it Sat. but had to pay to get in so wound up staying all afternoon again! (torture for him) haha The people at the booth were from Illinois too..small world!

My husband loves NHRA racing, and luckily we live only 10 miles from a track. He also enjoys racing his (and my old bike) on weeknights. We are at opening day in Norwalk every year…while I get tired of the racing after, oh, 6 hours, I never get tired of the people. It is times like that that I wish I could secretly take pictures! Amazing!

Hi Lizzi. Hey, I have you beat. I am just now getting around to visiting those soul journal sisters who visited me at the blog party. {blush} So, I’m a lot later than you were.

We live about 2-3 miles from the Houston Raceway Park – I think they have NHRA races there. Not sure tho. I’m not into them, my Hubster likes going tho. Glad ya’ll had a great time. xoxo,

That wouldhave been a great time for us! Vic’s been itching to get to any kind of race but living in NJ ya gotta travel quite a bit for one! (Yes, we could go to Pocono Speedway but it gets so darn crowded up that way!)
