On-call. I can’t believe I’m writing that. It’s true.
We’re in the midle of my husband’s on-call week. I look forward to this time with dread and anticipation. It’s a love-hate relationship. I hate the late nights, calls out on the weekend, the possibility that a normal Sunday afternoon of lazying around the house will be interrupted by his phone. But another part of me looks forward to it it. Him being on call means life slows down. We don’t make weekend plans, heck I don’t even make dinner plans for the most part. It’s a chance for me to get things done that I normally stay away from…like purging everything in our bathroom drawers and cabinets (I finally threw away lipstick that’s over a decade old,) cleaning out the pantry, and painting and repainting shelves (and myself in the process.) All those chores that I’d rather not tackle on a crisp November weekend finally get crossed off my list when his on call duty rolls around.
But in all honesty, I have to admit that as much as I’m thankful for the time to hunker down and dig into projects, there are times when I have mini melt-downs when I hear his phone…
Hop over to Thauna’s blog to see what she’s thankful for this weekend.
