Mixed Bag {Love Your Shot}

September 8, 2010

Joyous.  Frustrating.  Sweet.  Hilarious.  Fun.  Demanding.  Wonderful.

Parenthood is a mixed bag.  You never know what you will get each morning when you open your eyes.

Sometimes you have to just sit back, enjoy the crazy mess it is, and just go with it.

There will always be a kitchen to clean, a floor to mop, laundry to fold.

And when you’re done with all that, you’ll probably have to start all over.

So stop and remember all the silliness of the moment.

Like when your 3-year-old thinks hiding forks in the huge bottle of bubbles is a great afternoon activity.

It really was funny.  And our forks are sparkly clean.

My tip this week…Play with  subject placement.  Normally the rule of thirds is the the rule of thumb in photography, but I think centering can work well on certain photos, especially those with simple elements like this bottle of bubbles.  I wanted the eye to be drawn to the center of the photo, like a bullseye.  If you’re not sure  how you want to place the subject of your photo move it around, move yourself around, experiment with different angles and vantage points.  And have fun!  And check out Love That Shot!

    I couldn’t have said it bettter! That is just how I feel about parenting, it is all of the above. The joy, the stress……but the joy and silliness is the best! The chores can wait, but the laughter and the fun can’t. Snatch it up when you can. And when they are teenagers/young adults (like mine) you can sit back and laugh about all the silly things. The gift that keeps on giving.

    Oh my goodness! I was trying to figure what that was in the middle of your image! That story is too funny! Don’t you just love kids and the stuff they think of? 🙂

    Your composition is pure perfection. Love the tip. 🙂
