It’s Friday evening and this is what I’m thinking…

November 28, 2009

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I love knowing I still have two days off to play.

The new year is still a month or so away, but it feels as though I’m entering a new year right now. A rebirth of sorts.

We got to play with soft and cuddly little puppies at our friend’s house last night. I so want one. I keep thinking about them. And then I think about Rowdy and Sami and I watch Sami chase her tail and Rowdy fling drool everywhere and I realize I really don’t.

Malls opening at midnight for Black Friday is pure insanity.

License plate: GOADOPT. Is that a command?

I have no desire to read. Well, no desire to read the books on my list.

Roasted beet salad is the best. And so is homemade kettle corn.

The weather is out of this world beautiful right now. We lunched outside at Rubio’s this afternoon and it was such a lovely river day. Too bad we were overlooking a parking lot and not the Petaluma River.

I put our tree up last weekend. I couldn’t help myself…Shane was out on a call and Beau was asleep super early and I had nothing else to do. Everyday I find an ornament somewhere it’s not supposed to be.

Speaking of trees, do you have a pickle on your tree? And is your dog under your tree skirt?

I love Cam’s wardrobe on Bones.

I’m not baking this season. Except for shortbread. That’s it.

I don’t understand how Shane doesn’t think The Office is as hilarious as I do.

I can’t imagine continuing to do (or not do) the same thing over and over again just because. Just because is not a reason to me. Do your own thing. Try something new.

Whatever you’ve got going on…Enjoy!

We have a pickle on our tree!!! Or we will shortly when the tree goes up this week. I love the Christmas Pickle! (Sounds odd when one says it that way, doesn't it?)

What's up with the pickle?! LOL I don't even have a tree much less a pickle! LOL

I love puppies… but kittens are better 😉 Speaking of which, I've been dreaming nonstop of kittens again. Its freaking me out.

The whole Black Friday thing is pure insanity.

Love GOADOPT. Adopt what? An animal, a kid?

I am loving the weather here too! 70's are my idea of a great Thanksgiving time tht's for sure!!

I agree, just because is not a reason. That's an excuse.

So glad you had a great Thanksgiving Lizzi!
I feel the same way…it seems like the new year NOW. I keep thinking of lists of goals and wants and trying to figure stuff out in my world! Maybe it's the moon! I also agree…the weather is fine now isn't it?? Glad to be in AZ in the winter!

    Hey Lizzie,
Once again, I love your thoughts. I understand that desire for soft, warm puppy. I just got the one I was dreaming about a little over a month ago. He is a golden retriever, and I swear I'm in love with him. He's so over the top totally sweet.

    Get one.
My husband can't understand why I think some things are funny, too. I think women have a seperately evolved sense of humor. That has to be it, don'tca think?

The Christmas pickle perhaps started as a German tradition, here's a link to a great explanation: http://www.pomnitz.net/fr.htm#lc/traditions/xmas_pickle2.htm

We are German, we have a pickle…just wouldn't be right without one…and yes I hide it.
My cats love to cuddle on my tree skirt-the tree is their favorite place to be at Christmas time.

We had a pickle. And then it broke. Story of my life.

And at first I thought the license plate said, "GOADAPT." I think I'll get that for my car.

I am finally getting back into the swing of things after Paris. I've slowly been working my way through all the unread posts in my Google reader–the count is down below 500 now–but it's tough.

I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I could use a little rebirth of sorts myself….

My favorite way to eat beets is to wash and slice them into half inch thick rings, brush them with olive oil and roast them until their soft. While the beets are still warm, I spread creamy goat cheese on top and sprinkle with fresh chopped mint. DELISH!

I'm so behind on my Google reader; I'm a week late getting to this post. I do have a pickle on my tree! Of course, we're German so we do the whole hiding, finding, reward thing. It's the last ornament I put on the tree when no one else is looking. The person that finds it gets a candy cane then they get to hide it and we start again. I even bought another one last year just in case this one gets broken.

We used to have a pickle also! We had it for 2 years and it got broken. I tried to find one for the tree this year, but waited too long.
