It’s Friday evening and this is what I’m thinking…

July 3, 2009

I love how the Tiffany catalog comes in a lovely blue envelope. Fun reading even if I’m not buying. I’m trying to resist the urge to add the contents of the catalog. I used to do that at my grandma’s house. I would sit at her desk and add the cost of all the items in whatever catalog she had received in the mail on her old manual ten-key. I still like to do it. Don’t ask me why.
The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays (the other being Thanksgiving) and fireworks are one of the prettiest sights.
A tip from me to you…regular old toothpaste removes permanent marker from laptop screens. It’s true. Something I learned courtesy of Beau and Google. You never stop learning, do you?
I wore blue jeans, a white t-shirt, a red cami, and red flip flops today, the day before the 4th of July. I didn’t mean to wear red, white, and blue…I don’t do that type of thing. It’s not me, just pure coincidence.
So I was reading an old Friday Thought post from January 30 about how I was putting it in blogoprint that I was going to get in shape for Beau’s birthday. Well, his birthday is in a week and a half and I’m in no better shape. But now, it’s Game On. I’ll be in shape for Birthday #3.
I was attempting to organize my gazillion photos (no, not a gazillion, but stil a whole lot) when I found this one of my Grandma E.K. from her visit to us almost 2 years ago. I love it. How many 90-year-old ladies do you know who pose like a saguaro next to a saguaro? Not many, I bet. And if you’re wondering, the photo organizing project didn’t happen.
I truly believe we have experienced a miracle…Beau has slept through the night in his own bed every night (well, except last night…he spent the last half of the night on our bedroom floor, but still) this week. You don’t know how happy this makes me.
Judging by the lack of fellow commuters this morning there were only 10 of us going to work today. Did you go?
“Ask. Expect. Accept. Experience.” I love this. I’m expecting the best.
I’m done with summer. Seriously. Can we bring on fall?
Here’s what I’ve been thinking lately as we approach tomorrow…If you want to thank anyone, thank the original bad boy rebels. You know, John, Paul, George (sorry, no Ringo), Thomas, Ben, Tom (my favorite), and if you’re from my family don’t forget Simon W.
I feel like a wimp if I turn the AC in my car on during my drive to work, even if it’s 89 at 6:40 AM. I still do it wimpy feeling and all.
I Mary Poppined my house last night…we had vacuuming, bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, laundry, closet organization, a little rearranging, and a little toy playing. And of course we had music and dancing. Lots of dancing. It was a beautiful sight to wake up to this morning – a totally spic and span house before the weekend hits.

Tahoe and jewelry have me reminiscing about my wedding and what I wore. My wedding attire was what I wore on our first date, a pair of black capris and a fitted pink oxford shirt. I love that outfit but sometimes I wish I had a real wedding dress…for my maybe one day daughter not to wear since it will be sooooooo hideously old fashioned then.

I moved the laptop up to our bedroom and it has changed the whole feel of the house. I don’t know how it happened but every room feels light and peaceful. And yes, my bedroom still feels like an oasis.

I went to the bank this morning and as I was pulling in I noticed next to the handicap spaces there were 2 spaces reserved for police parking. Needless to say I was a little uneasy about going to the bank. And once I was in the bank I was face to face with crazy patriotism. The teller, all decked out head to toe in a lot of red, white, and blue also decked out her eyes. She had on thick white eyeliner, blue eye shadow, and then a fair amount of pinky-red eye shadow. Quite a sight.
If you’re reading this I’m wishing you and yours a happy and safe holiday weekend!

You had work today? Boo! As you know, I work in our nation's capital–nobody here is working on any federal holiday. Have fun watching the fireworks with the fam tomorrow!

It's been feeling alot like Fall around here this week. 60-70 degree weather and I've been loving it. Not to hot to have the air on – not to cold I can't keep the windows open. I want it to stay…just like I hate vacation week to end 🙁 But back to reality. I hope you had a wonderful 4th weekend!

ps. i need to get ahold of a Tiffany's catelog. I've never seen one in my life…

I like to walk up the street now and then to visit Tiffany's. I seldom buy anything unless it's a gift – and even then it's usually one of those signature bracelets or money clips. Did your grandma think up the "add the catalog" game to give you a job? My grandma used to "let" me dust her drop-leaf desk with all the cubbyholes and drawers. I loved the lemon oil smell of it

    Just so you know
    – I was supposed to be 15lbs lighter by the 18th, miraculously, I'm 15lbs heavier

    – I bet my G-ma E.R. would have loved your G-ma E.K. 🙂 I miss her spunky arse.

    – I'm so ready for fall

    – I bought my wedding dress on ebay for ten bux- tee hee.

    – blue eye-shadowed tellers scare me.

    – and I hope you had a great 4th!

    Peace Love & Fireworks
    B

I worked at Tiffany & Co for 5 years until I was laid off in February thanks to our wonderful economy. I do not like Tiffany Blue. LOL It feels overwhelming. Oh and after working there….the jewelery isn't so sparkly and amazing anymore. =(

OMG you are KILLING me!! I used to do that too…add the contents of the catalog…. I have never found anyone else who did that! That makes me smile. I think i mainly did it because I have an obsession with 10 keys. I mean….how can you not??

4th of July and Valentine's Day are my fave holidays… are we by any chance sisters in another universe?

"Ask. Expect. Accept. Experience." I amy make this my new life motto. Thanks Lizzi!

Your maybe one day daughter can wear my wedding dress… how's that? 🙂
