It’s Friday evening and this is what I’m thinking…

June 19, 2009

Let’s be honest…it’s no fun being a martyr. Who likes martyrs anyway?

Two weeks ago it was Run DMC. This week it’s The Beastie Boys….No Sleep Till Brooklyn.

Remember awhile ago I said I was in the mood for a fun handbag? I gave in…it’s pink and the handles clang. It’s a beauty.

It’s so hard to see people you love act so differently than how you see them in your mind’s eye, how you want them to act.

If it’s music and it’s good I like it. Right now I’m really liking “Chicken Fried” by the Zac Brown Band. It makes me wish we still had Shane’s pickup so I could sing out loud in it, wearing my so-comfortable-I-want-to-sleep-in-them jeans, with my legs hanging out the window.

Have you been to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo? I have mixed feelings about zoos, but those aside…it’s Amazing with a capital A. I won’t bore you with all of my photos from there, just these.

The Star Spangled Banner as your ringtone. Why? Appropriate?

Iowa is beautiful and lush and green but it’s bad for my hair, which I’m really liking right now. Arizona and its dry heat blesses me with good hair almost every day.

It feels so good to eat healthy. But I still have some chocolate frosting in the fridge just in case I have a midnight urge. Cold on a butter knife…mmmm.

When you talk to certain people do the lyrics to “You’re So Vain” stream through your mind? They do mine. But only certain people…

Home is wonderful. My own bed is wonderful. Lazying around on my couch with my feet up is wonderful.

Let me rant before I erupt…1. If you honestly don’t know what you’re talking about keep your piehole shut!… 2. We all have issues and problems of all sorts and kinds but we’re still a pretty fortunate bunch – don’t forget it. We could all be a whole lot worse off… 3. Incessant complaining without action gets you nowhere. What it does get you is annoying to me. Go ahead and whine (we all do it) but at least attempt to change your situation or outlook. I’m not into sugarcoating anything, but sometimes you just have to look at the sunny side of the street for a little bit of a reality check. Thanks. That’s all for now.

The older I get the more I enjoy pineapple. Eating it and looking at it. I have three in my kitchen right now.

Have you ever read a blog and you’re totally thrown? Is it one person writing? Several people writing? One person with several personalities writing? And you just don’t get it but you’re still intrigued? Kind of frustrating.

I gave in and gave up $7.99 plus tax and bought a scale. More than the batteries were dead in the old one…it got Beau-ified.

Life is short. Live it up! Enjoy!

Isn’t it crazy good when the universe listens to you and speaks to you and you listen back and you feel that all is pretty much right in your own little world and that everything’s going to be okay? So good.

What do you like about your body? I like my teeth, my hands (except when they are post-bellum Scarlett O’Hara hands), and my feet (I know, big surprise there.) I just discovered I do not like my arms in photos. Back to the weights for me.

To my Cali chicks…Naugles is sounding good now. Holli, I know you remember. Do you Cyndi? I know you lived there too Thauna, do you remember it?

I am more than my relationships. More than my creations. More than where I come from. More than what I do. I am so much more than all of that. I’m discovering just how much more I am.

I wish you all happy weekending!

P.S. Remember this – we’re all just animals.

P.P.S. Look to the left. This is why I don’t do non-chlorinated bodies of water…

"Isn't it crazy good when the universe listens to you and speaks to you and you listen back and you feel that all is pretty much right in your own little world and that everything's going to be okay? So good."

This had to be my favorite part. I just love when we listen with our soul.

What do I like about myself…I think I will blog this answer myself. =)

    Hi Lizzi!

Just joined the Bunko Blog gang yesterday…I love your blog! The design is so creative. And I like how you do your posts–just thought after thought.

I look forward to hearing more from you!

One of the things I look forward to most on Fridays is seeing what you're thinking! Let's see…comments on your post…

I think having to be around martyrs might be worse than being a martyr…Or maybe it's being related to two martyrs that's worse…

I love fun handbags! But I don't usually carry them.

What sort of healthy foods are you eating? Are you following a specific diet or just trying to eat better?

I need to buy a dial scale. I had one where you had to do a few flips and turn a few circles before the error light would come on and not tell you anything.

    Happy weekend!

    Exactly.
One of my "more mature" changes in habits is; Never swim where you can't see what you are swimming with.

Love Zac Brown Band! Chicken Fried is my ringer for Vic! Not thrilled with my arms in tank tops ~ I love tank tops ~ so I lift weights when I can, which apparently isn't enough! We are all so much more!

I totally agree about the need to put your problems into perspective. My life isn't perfect but it's pretty damn good. If there's something not good about it, it's up to me to make a change. I firmly believe that.

Friday nite we had pina coladas and pineapple pizza for dinner. I love pineapples.

Sometimes I buy them just to put them on my table and look at them.

I can't actually sit and listen to those rants anymore without saying something to them. It just spills right out of my mouth and my face registers the horror that I'm feeling as the words come tumbling out but I can't hold them in. Out they fall in a why-don't-you-do-something-about-it-instead-of-complaining-to-me-about-it pile of poop. They triangle to you instead of to the person they are really angry with and then we walk around with their poop all day. No more, sista.

Where to begin, where to begin….let's see…..

Do you know I'm notREALLY entirely sure what being a martyr means…although I call my grandma one all the time. Sounds like it fits. I'm horrible I know.

LOVE Beastie Boys!!!!!! And I need to Itunes Zac Brown Band now cause I've never heard of them. (don't you like how I just made Itunes a verb?)

Dry heat is better for my hair too. And my insides.

God that frosting STILL sounds good.

The lyrics You're So Vain came into my mind while talking with a certain guy I was with. Fit so well.

Truly agree with the rant. I will listen to someone vent and then am happy when they feel better getting it out of the head but I HATE the every day incessant complaining that people do. I mean how many times can you listen to someone say they are "something" before you want to say "just fucking do something about it then!!!"

Naugles really sounds good. I'm hungry for Mexican food bad.

Oh Lizzi, love your Friday thoughts! Let's see…yes I remember Naugles, sounds good. Love the pictures, esp. the elephant! I'm grateful that I live in a dry heat climate too. Wish I had some chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge right now. And the rant…DITTO!!! I can be a complainer and a whiner…but I like living on the sunny side of the street. I like my rose-colored glasses, and life looks best when I have them on. And yeah, ain't it grand when the Universe conspires on our behalf! Love it!

BTW, I've been neglecting my regular blog visits but I LOVE the new design!!!

I loved the pics from the zoo-especially the tiger pic. Reminds me of my stewie cat when he wants attention, he will jump on my lap and reach towards my face with an outstretched paw and give a pathetic mew. I think he is a person trapped in a cat's body.

I don't like complainers or interrupters – hmmm, guess I now qualify as a complainer…..

I love my feet. They don't stink.

    Peace Love & Multiple Personalities;)

I love the zoo pictures. I'm a sucker for the animals. And I really love your new look (blog and photo). I need to work on that a little. Some day. Also wanted to let you know I tagged you in a photo game on The Year of Living Obsessively. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I LOVE pineapple. I don't know if it's a growing up thing or what. But I could eat a whole pineapple in one sitting.

And I know what you mean about reading blogs and trying to figure out who wrote them. Every now and then I'm like, is this person nuts? Multiple personalities?
