It’s Friday evening and this is what I’m thinking…

June 5, 2009

“Ramble on…And now’s the time, the time is now…to sing my song…I’m goin’ ’round the world…” A little Led Zeppelin on a Friday afternoon is good for the spirit and the soul and the body.

This time tomorrow I will be in Iowa, enjoying its rolling green hills and big trees and snaking rivers.

Speaking (or writing) of Iowa, wish us luck on the plane trip. If you’re reading this please pray and hope and manifest that Beau will be an angel on our laps. Pretty please with a cherry on top. Thank you.

Have you been to a 7-11 lately? It smells fairly sickening and a little familiar, which is very disturbing.

It’s June. I’ts blowing my mind.

I think I could eat an entire lemon cake from Joe’s Real B-B-Q. It’s a good think I can’t make one as yummy as Joe’s. I think I posted this before. It’s just that good.

Why do I feel the need to pack 85% of my wardrobe when we go on vacation? Like I’m going to wear outfits on vacation that I don’t even wear at home. Outfits I should remove from my closet. And even though I’ve been pondering the merits of all my different handbags this week, I still haven’t decided which one to take.

It hurts more than I thought it would to be walked away from.

I’m a link in the chain. What’s your six word memoir?

You can only help those who want to be helped. It’s a hard reality.

This is how you know you are an adult: you are beyond excited to get Downey, Spray’n’Wash, Palmolive, and razors (the fancy Venus ones to boot) on CLEARANCE at Target.

This is how you know your husband will always be a kid at heart: you are walking across the darkened upstairs and he jumps out at you shining his maglite, yelling “boo“, and he is laughing at how clever he is because once again he has you jumping out of your skin. Of course you’ll never learn.

Call me crazy, but it’s just not that hard to follow the rules. The big ones…don’t lie, don’t steal…

Kids make you laugh and cry and smile at the same time. Sometimes I want to laugh and smile at Beau’s cries because he is finally crying for me.

Dancing by myself in the kitchen is one of the best pick-me-ups around.

I think “no” is the hardest word to say. Truly.

“It’s tricky to rock a rhyme…To rock a rhyme that’s right on time…It’s tricky, tr-tr-tricky…” Run DMC has been on repeat in my mind all week. And now Run DMC can be in your mind.

Do you remember pencil vending machines in school? They were awesome.

Get prepared for my new look…it’s coming.

Enjoy your week and I’ll enjoy mine (and I might even do a little posting…)

One more thing…You can buy a Coach surfboard now. Does anyone else think that’s excessive? And stupid?

That's my fav Run DMC song baby! And my husband does the EXACT same thing, minus the maglight & never ceases to scare the ever living heck out of me! I hear you on packing & still haven't finished as of yet! I hope you have a wonderful time in Iowa and I know Beau will be wonderful for both plane rides! (Hands held together in prayer, looking up…) Can't wait to see your pics! And I do think a Coach Surfboard is just silly.

I have to agree with you on the Coach surfboard. And I'll throw in "greedy" as well, for good measure.

I'd rather (weight and space wise) pack 85% of my wardrobe than 85% of my books…

    Have fun in Iowa!

And good luck picking the right bag to bring. That is the second hardest decision I have to make when packing. The first is packing books.

I love it, I love it! Every line in your post made me smile or laugh or both. I love the Run DMC line. And the six-word memoir…that's gonna have me thinking all night about it.

AND I'm hungry for lemon cake now.

Your Friday thoughts are the best. I can't tell you how much I love to read them!

I hope (and will pray for the plane ride) that you have an awesome weekend!

It is hard realization that you can only help those who want to be helped. That one was tough for me.

Anyway, have a great time in Iowa. I'm sure the little one will be fine on the plane.

I am so going to Target tonight! And the whole jumping from dark places thing, Daniel loves to pull that one on me all the time. It must be a guy thing! …great.

I love your ramblings. They make me laugh, they make me nod in agreement and some of them are just inspiring.

My six word memoir…This is on my mind now. (Could that be it? I didn't even realize it was 6 words!?)

Have a safe trip and I'm sure Beau will love the plane. When Mikey was 2 we went on a plane and he was an angel. Good luck!! <3

Your whole post just made me smile. Love the 80's movies and can still recite them!
But, we didn't have pencil machines, and now I'm feeling sad and left out.

OMG, I love that Ramble On song…I'm going to let that one be stuck in my head instead of the DMC. :o) I wonder if I have it on my iPod, I could go for some Led Zepplin and dancing alone in my kitchen right about now. :o)

Glad to know that you are safe and enjoying Iowa. Have a fabulous time! (why have I been saying that so much lately, "Fabulous")

We did a cheerleading dance to "Tricky" my junior year in high school…even hearing the song on repeat, for 5 months, didn't kill my love for it. Great song!

7-11 smells like bleach and ham.
    I don't like it
