Can you imagine life without music? I can’t.
My gem of the week…No marriage or life is easy and they both need work and upkeep, but when you’re liking it and who you’re going through it with you realize just how good it is…smooth sailing.
Today was the first day that I thought it was really hot. 102 is the word but my car says 107. How much longer can I keep wearing my so-comfortable-I-want-to-sleep-in-them-but-I’m-afraid-I’ll-wear-them-out jeans?
I just discovered the most amazing abandoned (I think) orchard down the street from us. I’ll show you soon.
In the midst of a tad bit of uncertainty I’m feeling really good.
I once had a professor who was passionate about his subject, and maybe a little crazy. He swore like a sailor, had a slight Southern accent that didn’t quite fit his personality, and could put you on the spot like no one’s business. Anyway, he always said that as soon as you realize you truly don’t need something, you get it. I still wonder about that.
I forgot to post this earlier this week…I’m announcing that summer has officially begun here in Arizona.
Here is my second gem of a thought for this week…Life is crazy and weird and wonderful. As I get older I have no doubt that I would have been happy single or happy without a child, but knowing that I get to experience my life and its crazy weird wonderful offerings with someone I love and LIKE (so important) makes it all good. Crazy good. (I know it’s a spin-off of my first gem, but it’s my blog.)
When I hear Republica’s “Ready to Go” I’m instantly transported to my 17-year-old self roaming the streets of Florence, soaking up the sites, being soaked up. Now I’m 30, a wife and a mom, and I roam the freeways of the Phoenix metro area. I need a break every now and then so I’m going to open the windows and play it on repeat all the way home.
To all my readers…enjoy your weekend, summer or not.

Nope, I would hate life without music!! I love your gem of the week—its exactly how i’ve been feeling lately and its oh so nice. I’m excited to get to those hot temps soon although I fear I may be a little out of practice for them. can’t wait to see your orchard! I TOTALLY agree with your professor and its one of the secrets I’ve learned about life since my heart attack. Honestly.

I don’t really trust people who don’t listen to music or read. I don’t understand that at all. Sometimes my whole day is made by hearing a certain song. And I always have a “power song” to psych me up.

Life would definitly suck without music. It transports you to different times in your life, different people that affected your life, or just a general mood. “Ready to go” will forever remind me of The Arnold Classic in Columbus, and going with an old boyfriend…we had so much fun looking at all the crazy muscle-y people!
