Fortunes {Photo A La {M}ode}

March 2, 2011

I’ve always saved my fortunes.

No idea why.

They’re just fun.

These are from lunch last week with the girls.

So far no inspirational movies (but we did finally see Date Night) and

I have only headed 15 miles south to the next town.

{  Both Photos:  SOOC  -  ISO200   –   1/200  -  f22  -  250mm  -  flash  }

I shot these fortunes this afternoon on my dining room table. Even with all the light from the 8 windows in there it wasn’t bright enough to use my zoom lens with a low ISO without the flash.  I rarely (almost never) use my flash indoor or outdoor because it is so harsh and I didn’t want to use it tonight.  But then I remembered my handy little soft screen diffuser for my pop-up flash.  Since I don’t have a speedlight (yet) I have to make do with little fixes here and there.  It  gave me more ability to play with my settings and ultimately let me work with a smaller aperture to get my photos bright enough but not harsh.  I chose not to do any editing because I like how the straight out of the camera look complemented the fortunes in just the right way for me.  I’m sure soon enough I’ll play with them in elements though!

    I love how your photos turned out. Do you have a special place that you save them? I have a few here and there that I’ve saved (computer monitor, refridgerator)

      Thanks Thauna! I used to keep my fortunes in my wallet but now they are all scattered.

    I save my fortunes too. In a jar.
    Also, I like to add the words “in bed” to each one. So juvenile, so fun

      I do the same thing… a little juvenile behavior is sure to liven things up!

    I’m so glad that you are going to join us for Project 2011! Love your photos, and maybe your “traveling southward” will bring you to NZ??

    🙂

      Thanks Patty! Same place, different look. Since there are only so many ways I can rearrange my house I have to do my rearranging on my blog! I’m in Arizona but I could swing up to Tennessee… 🙂
