Familiar yet unknown
Blue shirt
White truck
Door open
Walking away
Comfortable
I knew
Did you know?
I knew before good night
Funny what we set our hearts on
What sets our hearts on fire
Never a question
Taken for granted
You Me Us
Our names run together
You do what I want you to do
What I don’t want to want you to do
Always what you need
What I need
Protect me
I don’t need to be protected
Maybe I want it just because
Because I can
Stay out because you help me stay in
In house
In life
In what I want
I love it I hate it
Am I ruining your dreams?
Am I your dream?
Show me
Tell me
Deep down I know
But I need to hear to see to feel
Hold me let me hold you
Feel your heat
Feel your heart
Your flesh
You are mine I am yours
We’ll always be
I know
I know you
I know you know
You kiss me goodnight
And I know
I see your blue shirt
Your white truck
My door open
You’ll never walk away
From me
From us
You give me ease

This was lovely to read.
M.J. says
What a great poem–I like how you express the uncertainty that is always present when you open up your heart to someone else, yet you also so eloquently describe a lasting, secure and comfortable love between two people. The seemingly mundane details–"blue shirt," "white truck," "door open"–those are the little the little things that bring comfort to our lives, confidence to our relationships and ease our souls.
Mandy says
M.J.'s response says it all….
Brandie says
wow, this is really beautiful.
Cyn says
