Jean Paul Gaultier is my signature perfume and has been since high school.
It is also the only perfume that I’ve had bad luck with.
Then, 1994:
I bought it when I was in France as an exchange student.
It was new and smelled divine and I thought I was so sophisticated.
Afterall, here I was coming from Paris with
perfume that no one else back home was wearing.
Somewhere between SFO and Petaluma the topper came loose.
Slowly the spicy sents of rose and anis, orange blossom and amber,
vanilla and ginger started wafting through the car.
By the time I got to my bottle there was nothing left.
But my suitcase smelled heavenly.
Now, 2010:
A typical workday morning.
I am rushed and harried.
My mind is going a mile a minute and
I’m not completely sure that I like what I’m wearing.
I have butter fingers and my perfume slips from my hand and
tumbles slow motion into the sink.
And all of a sudden spicy sents of rose and anis, orange blossom and amber,
vanilla and ginger are all around me.
And glass is all over the bathroom counter and sink.
And my first thought is “Why am I not surprised?“
Do you have a signature scent?

{I took this with my 50mm 1.8 lens which I am in love with (Can you be in love with a lens?) The 1.8 lets in so much light that it takes shooting indoors to a new level. It brings your subject into crisp focus while blurring and softening the background with a nice bokeh effect (of course you can’t see much of that here since my background is our leather couch!) I did some clean editing a la Michelle on it and voila!}

I love this photo…and the story really brings it to life. Thank you so much for sharing Lizzi! 🙂

I always wanted to have a signature scent but I find that I tire of a scent after a couple of bottles. Plus I usually prefer something lighter for everyday and then I like to amp it up a notch if I'm going out at night. Right now, I'm loving Dolce & Gabanna's Light Blue which I could wear for both and may turn into my one and only. If I can give up Ralph Lauren's Romance. Hmm…

My signature scent would probably be Chanel No. 5…but it always feels a bit strong, so I rarely wear it. I also have Chance by Chanel, which is a bit lighter. I may start wearing it this year, since I am going to be a sophisticated grad student, after all.
I love the Venus de Milo-ness of this shot!

Awww! Well, if it had to break at least it was an interesting break.
{Tender Poison is my fragrance of choice : )}
