A Valentine Party, Art Journaling, & A Side Note

February 4, 2009

While enjoying The Vintage Moth I happened across a Soul Journal Valentine Party being hosted by Kathryn, the Collage Diva. Who can resist a party? I think it sounds like a perfectly lovely way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the blogosphere and meet some new friends.

Even if you aren’t up for the party, you should take at hop on over to the Collage Diva’s Digital Playground. Her creations are gorgeous and inspiring. I’m excited to start an art journal of my own. In fact, in the (little) unpacking I’ve done so far, I have found the perfect book to use as my journal! I used to make collages all the time, but as is known to happen, time got away from me and life started to happen a little faster and my collages took a backseat, and then no seat at all. Although I think of my blog as an ongoing collage of my life, thoughts, and experiences, I am anxious to start creating something using tangible items.
On a side note, we’ve been in our new house for almost a week and life is good! Most of my books are shelved, the kitchen is unpacked, the den is a mess of boxes and treadmill, the dining room table is topped with yet-to-be-unwrapped fragile items, the guest bed still needs made, Beau’s room is almost done, the master is looking decent enough, and the only thing I can think about is taking a hot bubble bath in my garden tub (and of course blogging!)

    I used to put together what I called "Inspiration" journals – just blank sketch books in which I pasted with images & words that inpsired me. I got away from it too and have been wanting to get back to it. The Valentine party sounds fun! (I'll be at a Nephew's wedding in TX). So glad things are going well with the new home! (I cannot wait for that day for us!)

    My best friend and I would make each other collage books for each other’s birthday. We’d fill the pages with inspirational words/quotes, pictures, things that only we would get, etc… They were so much fun to make and to receive. I think it’s a great way to document life. Have fun in TX at your nephew’s wedding!

    Glad to hear you’re getting settled 🙂 Unpacking the kitchen is always my least favorite out of all the rooms. Have a great weekend!

    Thanks for sharing this…I signed up for the party. Looks like a lot of fun, I’ve been pondering about trying some art journaling. We’ll see if I can add another hobby/interest into my life. :o)

    How fun it was for me to scroll down and see your sweet words about my blog. {I’m blushing.}

    How cool that my little art journal experiments in the form of the Soul Journal Project has inspired you to pick up that journal.

    Have fun! I can’t wait to see what you create.

    {soul hugs}
