It has been raining today. Father started to the salt meadows but it rained so hard that he had to come back and he got wet. { From an old family diary.}
I don’t know what the Father in the diary did upon his return from the salt meadows. Some sort of work I’m sure. And it’s questionable how enjoyable it was by today’s standards.

It has been raining today. Beau and I started our way to work and school and got all of 2 miles. Between traffic and flooded intersections and closed roads (and that was just around our neighborhood) it was obvious we weren’t going to make it far. So like many in the Phoenix metro area we gave ourselves a rain day. It mostly involved watching the news, washing bedding, thinking about creative projects, a lot of Netflix, and a fair amount of worrying about the lack of office personnel at work. (Seriously, I need to work on my relationship with work, but that’s for another day…) I’m guessing my rain day was much more enjoyable than Father’s in 1866.

Thanks. I just wish it had more entries. There are a few recipes (hard to figure out the ingredients and measurements, and a few cryptic notes.

I agree — I love old diaries and journals. Bet you’re glad it’s raining and not dusty!

Rain over dust any day! Fortunately we didn’t have any damage, so it was a win-win for us.
