{ And so this was the state of my office this afternoon. Chaos. And my mind wasn’t much better. }
You know those days that start off perfectly fine? In fact they start off good because you are ahead of schedule. And then you walk through the office door and that is the end of good and the start of one fire after another? That was today. It’s not always easy when everything about your job involves money. Money in. Money out. And sometimes it’s just an hour that makes all the difference. And that hour can be the most stressful ever as you watch your email, willing that new message notification to pop up. But when that email comes through in the nick of time, such sweet, sweet relief. That was this morning in a nutshell. Eight mental hours in before 11 AM. (Really I do love my job. I swear.)
Today it looked like a Staples exploded in my office. I had files and papers and checks and pens and highlighters all over the place. I like to think I had some sort of handle on the situation, but really I didn’t. The only thing that got me through was (a not long enough) lunch at Rubio’s with Tamye, cold soda, and my running playlist. You have one of those playlists right? Songs that are completely inappropriate for work and for 6-year-old ears? (Honestly, the appropriateness for a 35-year-old is questionable.) But with Eminem and Nate Dogg in my headphones I was invincible. Throw in some Rage Against The Machine and nothing stood in my way. I’m already anticipating what I will be listening to tomorrow as I get through the last day before a much needed long weekend.

Sometimes what gets me through the afternoon is Limp Biskit, Break Stuff – uncensored. 🙂 Thank God for earphones.
